Sometimes, life feels hard. Harder than it should. It can be all too easy to get discouraged and lose hope – in ourselves, in others, in the world.
But, while that may be how we feel, it is not the truth. And God calls us time and again not to live by our feelings, but by the truth of His word.
2 Corinthians 10:5 says: “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
So, what is the truth?
The truth is that we are deliberately chosen (Isaiah 43:1-2), unconditionally loved (John 3:16), full of promise (Psalm 139:13-16), and precious in His sight (Isaiah 43:4).
Yes, even now. No matter where you are or what your life looks like.
I was recently reminded of this while perusing the book, Gmorning, Gnight!: Little Pep Talks for Me & You by Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of the Broadway hit musical Hamilton.
Below is a passage that especially caught my attention – a reminder to hold onto during good times and bad:
“But you hold that promise still.”
Let that sink in. And then Just. Keep. Going.
